The UFO That Vanished from the Seafloor (Richard Dolan)

Richard Dolan examines the extraordinary 1984 Lummi Island incident, one of the most intriguing USO cases from his new book, A History of USOs, Volume Two*. In the early morning hours of July 27, 1984, the crew of the fishing vessel *Steeva 10 reported a flaming object descending over the inland waters near Lummi Island, apparently making a strange maneuver before plunging into the water off Carter Point. Months later, a local recovery team aboard the Diane reportedly located a metallic object on the seafloor. Divers described it as unusual, possibly disc-like, and one reported feeling a hum through his boots while standing on it. An underwater video attempt apparently failed, and when the team returned, the object was gone. Drawing on Matthew Thuney’s reconstruction, Coast Guard records, local reporting, and later witness testimony, Dolan asks whether Lummi Island may represent one of the rarest possibilities in USO history: a genuine underwater retrieval case.
