How Michael Parenti EXPOSED Chomsky As A Fraud! w/ Christian Parenti (Jimmy Dore)

Jimmy speaks with Christian Parenti, associate professor of economics at John Jay College, City University of New York, about how progressive public intellectuals often moderate their views to maintain access, prestige, and approval from elite institutions, even while presenting themselves as dissidents. He explains that his father, Michael Parenti, refused to cross those ideological “third rails,” particularly by defending actually existing socialist states and seriously engaging evidence around the JFK assassination, which led to blacklisting and red-baiting in academia.

By contrast, he says, figures like Noam Chomsky have been criticized for dismissing these inquiries, prioritizing credibility with mainstream gatekeepers, and maintaining institutional protection at places like MIT. The conversation frames this divide as a choice between career security and genuine critical inquiry, with Parenti’s legacy representing intellectual independence at significant personal cost
