How can a Senator have so little clue about how coal works? Topher Project Ep 356

There's a Senate hearing into misinformation on energy and climate change... but how can they know what misinformation is when the people running the hearing have no idea what the truth is?

The Australian energy system is a mess. During evening peak demand times expensive gas, and renewable battery power is pushing up the prices. During the day the grid is flooded with so much solar power that it becomes so cheap the solar power companies are paid a subsidy. At other times during the day the batteries are recharging using coal power.

When it comes to the environment, the basic truth, when you examine the raw climate data, is that the world is not hotter, nor the weather more extreme, than in the past. There's no reason to close down the cheap coal power plants in favour of the mess we see here.
