We’re Probably Not the First Civilization… Here’s Why (Michael Button)


It’s possible that lost civilizations flourished during ancient pre-history. Let me show you why…

By using evidence from the scientific literature, I’m going to show that lost ancient civilisations aren’t just possible, they’re arguably more likely than not…




The video makes the point that a human civilisation could have arisen during the last Ice Age, with their society flourishing through fishing and agroforestry. Living by the ocean and eating a lot of fish and fruit makes sense when you consider optimal human dietary needs. How long did early humans, at least a group of them, exist in such a long term stable setting? How did these people organise their society? When sea levels rose at the end of the last Ice Age almost all trace of their existence would have been removed. A cataclysmic event would have made their erasure more thorough.
