25% Tariffs On Canada & Mexico Start TODAY! (Jimmy Dore)

The White House said Friday that President Donald Trump would impose a 25% tariff on goods coming to the U.S. from Canada and Mexico and a 10% tariff on those from China on Saturday, a move that could drive up prices for products coming into the U.S. from those countries.

Trump had said he would issue those tariffs on the first day of his presidency, then said on Inauguration Day that the tariffs would be put in place on Feb. 1. White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters on Friday that Trump would carry through on that Feb. 1 deadline.

Jimmy and Americans’ Comedian Kurt Metzger discuss whether the Trump tariffs are intended to remain in place or merely represent a negotiation strategy from the President to persuade Canada, Mexico and China to cave on other issues.

Comment: Trump was in contact with the Chinese before he went ahead with these tariffs, so he likely cut a deal. While there will be some short term turmoil, the objective here is a good one. Undoing the present globalist system was never going to be easy. There's also talk about abolishing income tax with the implementation of these tariffs.

Also note: If you look at shows like American Pickers you can see they are picking over the ruins of a once great industrial powerhouse, with local businesses and manufacturing existing throughout the country. Things have fallen off a cliff since the NAFTA deal that gutted a country already in decline. If you look at the images of the country on film, and in magazines, of past decades you can see what was lost.

Americans have been crying about outsourcing to cheap overseas labor for a long time. Sacrificing quality jobs at home for cheap goods from overseas. Now people want to cry that they won't get those cheap goods anymore. Well which one do you want?

We are tariffed by numerous countries that we don’t tariff back. The establishment news will not tell people that.

We used to make everything we needed here in America, and what we made was high quality. We need to get back to that. It's going to take a little time for companies to get set up and start training people, but we need to do it. If we want true stability, we need to be in a position where we do not need other countries to sustain ourselves.
