How Henry Kissinger Killed 3 Million People (GDF)

It's one thing to take a stand against the Soviet Union and another thing to wage unrestricted wars on civilians and support genocidal regimes. The US was supposed to protect freedom and democracy, but the reverse ended up being true in most cases. The other side to this global conflict was that if the US did not support local murderous dictators the Soviets would. This does not excuse the genocidal actions since, rather than acting like a moderating force, the US either stood back or actively encouraged atrocities. If other, more noble, diplomats had been directing US policy at the time things would have been different. The war in Vietnam may have ended earlier or, if President Kennedy had not been assassinated, a political solution to the brewing conflict in Vietnam may have stopped the US intervention and subsequent escalation.
