The US is firmly under the control of the Israelis and will go along with whatever policies they dictate at this point in time. The operation will now be to evict Palestinians from Northern Gaza, at the very least. The situation will end when one side completely removes the other from the land.
The key thing to understand is that the Israelis see themselves under constant threat, and want a war to rid themselves of the Arabs, including destroying the hostile States surrounding them. This is their long term goal. If they can create a massive 'East vs West' war to do so, they will.
