The protests currently spreading throughout China are about something much, much more serious: Slavery and control



The protests are much more widespread than in 1989 and they are directed against the Government. Either the Government makes massive concessions and ends the Covid lockdowns or they roll out the tanks. If Xi were wise he'd change the policy and implement some sort of reforms first before trying the tanks.
