Alice Weidel: Germany Is Becoming A “Danger Zone” Under The Political Establishment (Financial Express)

AfD chair Alice Weidel delivers a forceful speech at CPAC 2025, attacking Germany's political establishment over migration, energy prices, inflation, national security and freedom of speech.

Weidel argues that establishment politics has turned Germany into what she describes as a "danger zone" for its own citizens. She accuses Friedrich Merz and the political establishment of abandoning voters after adopting elements of the AfD's programme.

She also attacks Germany's Office for the Protection of the Constitution, accusing the institution of being used against political opponents and arguing that attempts to restrict or potentially ban the AfD are authoritarian.

Weidel presents the AfD as a movement focused on national sovereignty, secure borders, law and order and free speech. She also calls for peace in Ukraine and strong relations with Germany's European neighbours and the United States.
