Tasmania’s Mystery Lights Continue: What Is Happening Over Meander Valley? (Interstellar Discussion)

Strange lights have been appearing over Meander Valley and Mother Cummings Peak in Tasmania almost every clear night since early July 2026. Up to six bright lights at a time, moving at sharp angles, visible for up to 45 minutes and seen from 20 - 30 kilometres away.

Meander Valley Mayor Wayne Johnston has publicly called for answers after receiving the first reports on 6 July. He and other locals initially thought they were drones but commercial pilots say battery life doesn’t match the long durations. Police, Parks and Wildlife, and other authorities have no explanation.
