Why Is Ukraine Suddenly Bombing Iran? (Kim Iversen)

Ukraine just opened a second front — striking Russian and Iranian vessels in the Caspian Sea and killing an Iranian sailor, with Tehran vowing the attack "cannot go unanswered," Zelensky shrugging that "Iran attacked us first," and even the Kremlin comparing it to the provocations before World War I.



China should think about stepping in more overtly in the wars to shake up the neocons that are pushing them. They're pushing things thinking that their opponents will eventually collapse, but it will be Western economies that fall apart first. Ukraine attacking Iran potentially inserts Russia into the Iran war, a tactic to get more (public) Western support. The problem is that they can't succeed militarily, and an economic calamity will come first before any Western victory.
