BREAKING: Houthis Close Bab al-Mandeb Strait /Lt Col Daniel Davis
The Saudis have redirected a lot of oil through this Strait to avoid the Hormuz blockade. One or two strikes by Yemen on ships going through the Bab al-Mandeb Strait will make all ships uninsurable, thereby stopping most of the traffic. Oil prices will fly past 100 dollars per barrel.
Perhaps the next US pivot will be a ground invasion of Yemen? A sure way of ending the fighting would be for the US and Israelis to stop all their regional military operations. As things stand US officials have been spewing a ton of war escalating nonsense and propaganda about what's happening. They claim military success and yet Iranian ballistic missiles continue to rain down. Drones continue to hit ships traversing Hormuz and soon Bab al-Mandeb.
Additional thoughts/summary (clipped from social media):
Daniel Davis calling out the stupidity and lies fuelling this unnecessary conflict. He rips into the US leadership and the nonsense they've been spewing about having success while ballistic missiles continue to rain down. He points out that the Iranian weapons stockpiles are stored deep underground, in multiple locations, and cannot be knocked out. The Strait of Hormuz will remain closed since a few drones can easily knock out tankers. Ballistic missiles can hit oil, power and water infrastructure throughout the region, and the Houthis can use drone attacks to close the Bab al-Mandeb Strait, which is where the Saudis rerouted much of their oil. One way to end this is for the US and Israelis to stop all military operations in the region.
The other thing to consider would be a US ground invasion of Yemen if they close the Strait. The Saudis tried this before and failed, but the US is likely to have more success, although they will certainly end up with a lot of casualties, from drones, as they massacre the people of Yemen. Iran would likely destroy Saudi oil and power stations in response, making the place near uninhabitable. They'd likely do the same with Israel, and hit their water desalination plants - that would go offline anyway without power.
