COL. Douglas Macgregor : The Venezuela Operation Trump Won’t Explain (Judging Freedom)

Colonel Macgregor asks who is really in charge of the USA? The answer seems to be the neocons, the CIA and the usual corporatists. Will the US now help Venezuela to improve their economy or will they loot the place and drive it further into poverty? The lifting of sanctions will obviously be beneficial.

Perhaps the main short term goal of the military operation, outside of regaining control of the oil production, was to split Venezuela from having close ties to Russia, Iran, and also China, along with breaking their connection to Cuba.

The main problem with such interventions, aside from the loss of life, is that it opens the door for other countries to do the same. It's a Pandora's box of interventionism, to remove leaders or Governments that are deemed illegitimate, whether this is true or not. In this case overt military action was taken. In the recent past the regime change operations, such as in Syria or Ukraine, have been done by proxy. In all situations the prospect of longer term disastrous outcomes is ever present.
