Ancient Egypt Did Something We Still Can't Explain (Michael Button)

The giant statues of Ancient Egypt aren’t just impressive because they’re old.

They’re impressive because, even today, we’d struggle to recreate what they represent.

Many were carved from single blocks of granite weighing over 1,000 tons.
They were transported vast distances, positioned with precision, and raised without machines we’d recognise. The usual explanation sounds reasonable – until you start running the numbers.

And once you do, it becomes harder to ignore the possibility that we haven’t just underestimated the engineering… But the level of knowledge, coordination, and long-term planning ancient societies were capable of.

Michael misspeaks when he said 9000 years after the Romans, in reference to knowledge about their concrete, when he meant 900 years. The big question is whether the ancient Egyptians actually constructed the largest structures, which shows signs of machining, technology they did not possess. The answer is that the Egyptians almost certainly encountered the blasted ruins of an advanced Ice Age civilisation and built over the top of it.
