Just because you might be tolerant of other people, other people, or groups of people, might not be tolerant of you. The problem for those in the West is that many people (in the public) think that everyone in the rest of the world has a similar mentality to themselves. Certainly a lot of foreign men don't. Projecting Western sensibilities onto others is a (dangerous) mistake.
