The Most Devastating Catastrophes in Human History (Michael Button)

Human history has emerged from catastrophe.

For most of our existence, humanity has lived on a planet that was anything but gentle. And in that time there have been countless cataclysms powerful enough to erase entire human cultures without leaving a single trace.

Now while most of these disasters weren’t powerful enough to wipe out our entire species, they didn’t have to be. A localised human culture could vanish in a single event — erased so completely that the planet forgets they ever existed.

The clip is a great reminder about the past extremes of climate.
