We Killed The Acolyte, Apparently (Critical Drinker)

What can I say? According to Leslye Headland, [online] content creators are the ones really responsible for The Acolyte's failure. Not the bad directing, the hammy acting or the atrocious writing.

What the Critical Drinker is arguing here is correct. While some of the online critics may be going too far with their harsh reactions to various productions, it is true that a lot of the story telling is bland and focused on The Message (Cultural Marxism), that many young males are aware of and are rejecting, even if it is less blatant than it was in the past. People like Headland are making shows for themselves, essentially warped fan fiction, rather than for their audience. Good Star War fan fiction shows the difference in mentality, where they make things that fit established norms (for the most part) that respects what's gone before.
