The West’s Worst Nightmare Is Happening Right Now in Ukraine! | Col Douglas Macgregor (Larry Johnson)

Most of the talk about the war in this clip concerns military structure and tactics, and that what we're really seeing is precision firepower warfare as opposed to manoeuvre war. Macgregor points out that manoeuvre war is largely a myth, and that it's not something we saw even in WW2, except from the Germans at certain stages. The battles of WW2 were essentially massed firepower engagements where one side overwhelmed the other side (including with air power). Macgregor also points out that the Russians are much more willing to learn from their battlefield experiences and that the US, and other Western nations, have a long history, underscored by a level of arrogance, of underestimating their opponents.

Perhaps the best thing you can get out of these kinds of military videos is an appreciation for open and honest analysis. One must be humble and open to ideas to have any hope of learning things from the world around you. One objective observation made by Macgregor about the M1 Tanks he was commanding during the Gulf War was the fragility and thirstiness of their turbine engines - something that was a big issue back in the early 90s. These tanks are still operating with the same type of engine today.
