Europe's Cataclysm: Thirty Years' War (Epic History)

In 1618, Europe stands on the cusp of the most destructive war in its history - a thirty-year-long cataclysm that will engulf the continent. Slaughter and rumours of cannibalism will haunt the land. War, starvation, and plague will decimate whole populations.

What started as a regional religious dispute spirals into a widespread, total war. No one will be spared in a conflict that still casts a long shadow across European history to this day
.

It took Europe a long time to get over religiously driven, or excused, barbarism with the 30 Years War being a high point in terror. Much of the large scale fighting was driven by 'Princely' power plays, as has always been the case, where various Princes within the Holy Roman Empire sided with Catholic or Protestant forces to assert their own independence/existing power base, or expand their holdings. They were looking for advantageous alliances in support of these two positions. At the same time outside powers like (Catholic) France and (Protestant) Sweden stepped in, prolonging and escalating the violence, in defence of the Protestants who were being overrun.

The general disrespect for borders and the fractured nature of the territories in Europe helped to fuel the conflict, with the extended nature of the fighting leading to poverty, famine and a general break down in law and order. The fighting contributed to an increase of men-art-arms, mercenaries, that helped with the furtherance of atrocities. As the fighting dragged out disease struck contributing to the decimation in central Europe.

The lesson from the past about fractured societies and Princely power plays is relevant to modern day Europe. Today Europe is on the road to balkanisation thanks to globalist Governments and their policies of letting in people who have their own ideas when it comes to political control - a situation that will eventually lead to self governing areas after native populations have been displaced. If central Government control weakens, likely due to an economic crisis, or if the masses of imported people becomes enormous, then balkanisation (and conflict) is sure to follow.

The memory of the 30 Years War is something we must keep in mind when thinking about the future of Europe. The ugly truth is that different groups of people, with different allegiances, often end up fighting each other - being steered (easily) in that direction by megalomaniacs. Measures to prevent fighting from breaking today out are essential, like having closed European borders, particularly to people that have no inclination of assimilating into European culture, plus the deportation of such people already on the continent. This can happen through the ballot box, with Nationalist leaders taking charge as soon as possible.
