Ocean Acidification: Are coral reefs going to dissolve and stop growing? (Reef Rebels)

The video looks at recent scientific papers published concerning the impact (theoretical) of increased CO2 levels in the oceans, in relation to coral growth, and shows that increases have no impact. Corals are actually quite tough and can survive fluctuations in their local environments very well.

Putting the mechanics of how corals use oceanic CO2 aside, a simple test to KNOW if the oceans will dangerously acidify, if CO2 levels are higher, is to look at the geological record. When CO2 levels were many times the level they are today there is no actual evidence of a highly acidic ocean going from the fossil record. The assertion that high CO2 levels will acidify our oceans, killing off 'delicate' life forms, is false.

This should be good news for anyone that thinks the world is ending due to CO2 levels going up.
