How is Angry right about 3I Atlas when so many astronomers think he's wrong? It's happened before! (AngryAstronaut)

Astronomers the world over believe that Avi Loeb, and journalists like me are engaging in alarmist nonsense. How can I be right when so many educated people think I'm wrong?
Well, it's happened before!



This video from the Angry Astronaut channel is not really about 3I/Atlas, but about thinking outside the box, being open minded, and not keeping your head down for fear of being professionally ostracised (losing your position) when you go against the prevailing orthodoxy. The clip points out that Angry was right with his assessments on past near Earth asteroids, later confirmed in published papers. Going back to 3I, his position is that it's clearly highly anomalous, which may, or may not be a sign that it's artificial. Collecting more data is important. In another video on this issue it does look like the Mars orbiters will be turning their cameras towards the object as it makes a close approach to Mars. There may indeed be a natural explanation for what's being observed, and probably so, but the key thing is the investigation. Much more investigation is needed generally when it comes to controversial issues.
