Oliver is right that this is not about truth, but the demonstration of naked power. It's obvious they are lying, and it's obvious that this is to protect intelligence agency blackmailing. Anyone that tries to expose this will be run over - threatened or mentally twisted into keeping the corruption 'hidden'. Those that seriously cross the establishment end up dead. The only way to stop what's happening is likely through a military coup. Those in office swear to protect the Constitution from enemies both foreign AND domestic. They're duty bound to leak the truth to the public - at the very least.
