The guys at The Duran point out that flagging what targets are to be hit, the nuclear sites, looks like a misdirection. They believe heavy strikes will be aimed at the Iranian political and military leadership with a mind to bring about regime change. However, another key target may be their oil industry. When the Syrians lost control of their oil fields the country fell apart economically. This strategy might be tried again for Iran, although there will be no occupation forces to guarantee economic strangulation.
