With the US already at war with Russia in Ukraine, thanks to the neocons, the Russians (plus a number of other countries), are likely to want to get at the neocons through making Israel suffer. The neocons have not won any friends with their skulduggery and now the chickens are coming home to roost. The West and the neocons opened up a front against Russia in Ukraine, and now they (the Russians) have an opportunity to strike back to varying degrees by supporting Iran.
Iran will not likely get any nuclear weapons, but they will likely get enough support to keep hitting Israel, perhaps striking their airfields, oil infrastructure and maybe closing the Strait of Hormuz for a limited time.
