During a recent sit-down with Time Magazine, President Donald Trump claimed that he would not be averse to raising taxes on the wealthy. All that’s preventing this move, Trump said, is that he would be vilified for it politically, specifically referencing the electoral defeat of President George H.W. Bush who had campaigned on a pledge of “no new taxes” but then went ahead and raised taxes.
