Russia Seeks Ukraine Victory, Deploys 2 New Armies; Gives Up On Talks; US Opts To Invest In Ukraine (Alexander Mercouris)

This minerals deal looks like something to placate the warmongering, and murderous, neocons (and their political puppets). The key thing to consider is that without massive US support Ukraine will rapidly lose the war. This minerals deal does nothing to stop Ukraine from losing. This is something that everyone is missing, where many commentators see continued US involvement as a failure by Trump because he did not walk away.

One must remember that there are many jackals out there. They have already tried to kill Trump twice, so every move that is counter to Deep State wishes needs to be protected by a bodyguard of misdirection. Simply stepping away from Ukraine will get him killed. Until Trump's team can clean out the Deep State he'll have to play these sorts of games. He's not stupid. His political MO comes from Sun Tzu and this looks like a way of not doing anything substantial, and looking the fool, and letting Russia continue towards a military victory.
