Zelensky Publicly Rows Insults Trump Vance In Oval Office, Furious US Mulls Aid Cut Off, UK/EU Shock (Alexander Mercouris)
The key takeaway from this video is that the mineral deal was originally devised by the Ukrainians, but that they wanted direct intervention, via security 'guarantees' from the USA. The US, on the other hand, wanted to explore ways of brokering a peace deal whereas the Ukrainians only wanted to make a deal that resulted in their victory, one that included the recovery of all(?!) lost territory - something that is completely unrealistic.
Remember that the war started in 2014 after the US/neocon backed coup that installed a government hostile to the Russian speaking population of the country that was located in the East and in Crimea. To avoid persecution the people of these regions sought to breakaway from the coup government and then the tanks rolled in. The direct Russian intervention in 2022 was a result of escalations coming from the Ukrainian side, with increased artillery shelling of the breakaway areas (shelling that had already killed over 10,000 people) and also talk of joining NATO that would have eventually pitted Russia against Western countries directly. The intervention was an attempt to bring this deteriorating situation to an end.
Today leaders in the US are seeking to end a mess created by the neocons that have thankfully now been sidelined, although their grip on European leaders remains.
