There has not been an audit of the gold in 50 years ! There's something known as guilty demeanor. The bars, if they are there, need to be checked to determine if they are actually gold. A few years ago, as reported in the mainstream press, some of the gold bars in circulation in Europe, in the bullion trade, turned out to be gold plated Tungsten.
