Qatar-Syria-Turkey gas pipeline (TheDuran)
The video discusses a proposed Qatar-Syria gas pipeline, explaining its history, geopolitical context, and why it's unlikely to be built today. It covers the shift from pipeline gas to LNG and how this impacts energy markets and international relations.
The pipeline was intended to bring gas to Europe. They might have wanted to build this, but it might not be possible today with changed circumstances. Assad did not say no to the pipeline, only that he wanted to cut out Turkey, a country that ended up being a prime supporter of the proxy war. In a way he was blocking the project. He ended up turning strongly to Russia after the war went badly, and then the country crumbled years later after economic stagnation had set in thanks to the US occupation of the Eastern oil and wheat areas.
Turkey might still want the pipeline but Qatar is now sending gas directly via LNG. The neocons/USA likely did not want to see Syria becoming rich. The country ended up on their post 911 list of countries to be overthrown, and it was.
