Putin Medvedev Warn Kiev US More Annexations, Russia Destroys 4 Patriots, Jihadis Ask Russia Stay (Alexander Mercouris)

The Israelis are currently destroying Syrian air defense systems, likely so they can easily strike Iran. In the lead up to the overthrow of Assad, tensions rose with Iran and Russia. Politically, Syria was working less closely with its allies and was trying to mend relations with the West and Gulf Countries - nations that can never be trusted. Interestingly, Iran's embassy is still open in Syria, and Russian military bases are still in operation in the West. 

In Ukraine the Russians are now talking about taking control of Odessa and all territory East of the Dnieper River as the war drags out without Kiev willing to back down. No matter what the outcome, the Russians will settle for nothing but the neutrality and demilitarisation of the Ukrainian side.
