John Pilger on how President Obama does one thing while Brand Obama gets you to believe another. He is the essence of succesful advertising: you do what the advertiser wants because of how they make you feel.



Worth reposting in light of how the MSM is framing the present US election, when they use the terms democracy, fascism and racism as cover to avoid looking at real problems. These trigger words play on how you feel as opposed to addressing facts which is what this video is about (where Obama did this very well). This does not mean that the choices faced today are unproblematic, but the MSM coverage reeks of one sidedness that's far divorced from reality (they lie), and people are lapping it up unfortunately. The election is about Nationalist corporatists vs Globalist corporatists. There will be NO ideal solutions to all the problems facing the country (the USA), but this is what it is, and people should be choosing with that in mind.

Pilger goes through Obama's ACTUAL voting record in the Senate, which people just seem to ignore because he speaks well to a 'progressive audience'. This is the problem. For most people, facts don't matter. Research comes second to sound bites. This situation is very frustrating - especially when faced with the 'counter argument' that labels (irrationally) this criticism as being 'partisan political' .

People seem to have forgot the fact that the Obama Administration failed to prosecute the Torture and War Crimes of the Bush regime, failed to prosecute bankers for Obvious Fraud, introduced 'indefinite detention without trial' legislation into the NDAA (when they didn't have to), renewed the Bush Administration Patriot Act, introduced subsidised private health care which fines poor people if they don't sign up, was part of the illegal war against Libya, lied about what happened with the Benghazi attack, is part of an illegal Proxy War aimed at Syria consisting of "The West, Gulf Countries, and Turkey" (a direct quote from a 2012 declassified DIA document on the war), lied about Syrian Government WMDs in an effort to escalate the war, engages in a civilian-unfriendly drone strike program that even the CIA admits creates more terrorists than it stops, that they organised a coup in Ukraine that led to the present war (with the loss of MH17 and associated lies plus Russian sanctions), that they backed the coups in Honduras and (it seems) Turkey, that the present Administration has prosecuted whistleblowers (whose DUTY is to speak out against criminality), illegally sent assault rifle weapons into Mexico as part of the Fast and Furious scandal, hired lobbyists and cronies when forming the Government against promises against doing so, placed neocons and warhawks into key foreign policy positions such as Hillary Clinton, Susan Rice, Samantha Power, and Victoria "F*** the EU" Nuland, failed to prosecute the NSA chief when he said under oath that the agency didn't collect data on US citizens, issued false reports about the US economy and unemployment (which is at 15-20%), didn't prosecute Hillary in her recent classified email scandal where her own emails speak of removing classification headings and sending unsecure etc The reason the world is in trouble is because of unprosecuted high crimes - like what we see in the Third World. The cronies are running the show, and President Obama, for all his eloquence, and kind words, is simply the spokesperson/cover-up artist for what has really been happening.
