THE RWANDAN GENOCIDE IS A LIE (Corbett Report)

Everyone has heard of the Rwandan genocide of 1994. But everything you have heard about the so-called "hundred days" is either a distortion, a misrepresentation or a downright lie. That lie is still being used to perpetuate myths about the value of interventionism. In this incredibly important episode of The Corbett Report podcast, James does honour to the dead by breaking the staff of misinformation that the liars use to cast their spell on the public.



Hundreds of thousands did die, maybe a million, but the official narrative appears to be false. Each side killed the other, but the strange thing was that the minority group that was getting killed then took power and still holds power. 

What happened was essentially the seizure of power by one Tutsi rebel group (the RPF), backed by foreign powers (the USA) that killed oppositions forces from both sides inside the country, with the majority of the dead being Hutus. The media has portrayed the conflict as being the oppression and massacre of the minority Tutsis by the Hutus in some sort of planned genocide. People from both sides did end up massacring each other, but the confused situation that developed was misrepresented in the press. Today the Government of Rwanda acts to help the West to project its (economic) influence in the region (via the present dictatorship).   

The key thing about the media representation of what happened in 1994 is that it's being used as an argument for foreign intervention around the world via the 'responsibility to protect' idea. It side steps the machinations of larger powers that drive international conflict.
