Russia is winning and any ceasefire will be used to fortify the Ukrainian side. The Russians will likely never agree to anything short of a complete surrender considering all the times they were double crossed by the West in the past. They know that anything left of Ukraine will be used to attack Russia in the future. The previous Minsk agreements were merely cover for Western powers to arm and train the Ukrainians after the 2014 coup. During this time the Ukrainian Army continued to shell the breakaway regions of Eastern Ukraine which included civilian population centres. It was like they were trying to (unwisely) goad the Russians into a wider war which they got in 2022. The people involved in sparking this escalation appear to be rabid warmongers consisting of the neo-Nazi extremists in Ukraine and the US neoconservatives.
This conversation on The Duran points out that the leaders in the West are playing some sort of stupid intellectual game with this conflict while the Russians are simply winning the war through industrial, and organisational, might.
