The simple fact that the writers did not care about the source material, or appeared uninterested in the genre, is the crux of the problem, along with their SJW activist tendencies (which heavily shaped their work). The end result, of producing progressively worse films and TV shows, should have led to them being fired along with the executives that hired them. As big corporations continue to losing money thanks to these people, there is hope they will all be shown the door. The good thing is that this leaves the door open for smaller producers and independents to stop into the void.
