Ceasefire - My Thoughts (Russell Brand)

As Hillary Clinton, George Bush, Barack Obama, Joe Biden, Bernie Sanders and John Fetterman refuse to back a ceasefire, if you’re not calling for an end to violence between Israel and Palestine, aren’t you on the same side as warmongers such as Clinton, Bush and Obama?



The war, and ongoing conflict, is a dispute over land. The only solution, at this point, is to redraw the map and give the Palestinians a viable State, or have one side evict the other through force of arms. The origin of this conflict has been the mass migration of Europeans into Palestine where they ethnically cleansed the Palestinians from their homes. Mass migration causes problems. 

At this point in time there's been so much bad blood, with extremist political forces on both sides, that a long term peace deal looks difficult.

Looking far into the future, there may be a time when a Muslim country decides to nuke Israel, where this kicks off a nuclear war of the West versus Islamist countries. It would take some faith obsessed nut system to kick this off. Hopefully sanity from military officers of the potential hostile country with nukes would stop this action before it happened. Note: One does not have to endorse what the Israelis are doing in order to see the longer term danger here.  

This threat of war is why we all need to strive to create strong secular societies (not necessarily faithless) based on science, a level of compassion, and merit. The people of the Earth need to be on the same page rather than divided and at each other's throats. Having a viable place to live is part of the process along with societal reform, and a functional political system that can deal with the issue of immoral and psychopathic characters embedding themselves in positions of power.
