The Canadian Government said the jabs were safe, and that the benefit outweighed the risk, but they had no way of knowing. They lied to the public and this is the result. If this case wins it'll open the door for others. The bottom line, not being argued here, is that the Government had no right to coerce or trick anyone into taking an experimental medicine, which is a crime against humanity. What is really needed are Nuremberg style tribunals to round up everyone in authority that is responsible for pushing this on the public.
