A lot of ordinary people can hopefully see that things have gone very far off the rails - more than ever before. There's quite a few ex CNN, and ex other networks, individuals working in the alternative media space and they are all saying the same thing. People often criticise the alt media as not being 'real news' but it's increasingly populated by trained professionals that are airing the exact same sort of stories we see in long established alt media spaces. It's all about reporting truthfully, with context, not on who is doing the reporting.
