The Ukrainians are running up against stiff opposition and are unable to advance past the outer Russian positions that seem set up to destroy on coming attackers. These positions are not even fortified. Mini cauldrons seem to have been set up, with Russian troops falling back, and aerial attacks, via drones, are devastating Ukrainian armour. The offensive looks like a dead end operation that has no air or artillery cover, and where the Russians can see everything that is unfolding. There are no surprises in this war. Only brute force can win through and the Ukrainians do not have enough of it.
