Liberal Michigan City Bans Gay Pride Flag! (Jimmy Dore)

The city of Hamtramck, Michigan, just outside of Detroit, has a reputation as a bastion of liberal values. And in line with those values, the community rallied around members of the Muslim immigrant community in 2015 to elect a majority Muslim board. But now that same group of socially conservative Muslim city leaders has banned the gay pride flag, upending much of the harmony between various factions of the community.

Jimmy discusses the sticky questions that arise at the intersection of tolerance, free speech, democracy and government.



People on the right have been warning the left for years that Muslims are conservatives and have no sympathy for gays. They also say the Muslims will discriminate more heavily against people not in their religious group than Christians. On the other hand the LGBT community has gone off the rails as Dore points out by pushing inappropriate material on young children, which alienates them from the rest of US society.
