COMICS BROKE THEM- Would You Like Some CHEESE With That WHINE? #ComicsBrokeMe (YaBoiZack)

Zack explaining that the low selling indie comic book creators are being paid the correct amounts when adjusted for inflation. There are only selling around 5,000 to 10,000 books at the most and so their page rates reflects these sales. However, the big publishers are underpaying their creators for sales of 30,000 to 50,000 per issue. The problem is that these figures are not particularly impressive when compared to past sales of comics. Plus there is a pool of indie creators who will work for less in this situation - so these writers and artists are forced to take the lower rates.

This is why we see so many pros moving over to become independent 'comicsgate' creators. This is the monetary aspect to the equation aside from them wanting to move away from the extreme left wing bias we see in mainstream comics. They end up making the same, if not more, money than if they worked at Marvel or DC and they can also sell merchandise to go with their books.
