Russia Storms Bakhmut Defence, Ukraine Counterattack, Putin Meets Commanders, FT EU Out of Shells (Alexander Mercouris)

It's the 20th Anniversary of the US invasion of Iraq that Alexander points out was a Neocon war of choice, which makes it a war crime. At the time of the 2003 invasion Iraq was not in conflict with the USA (although there were ongoing sanctions). 

The important thing to remember is that justification for the war was based on the alleged 'imminent threat' of Iraq's weapons of mass destruction (WMDs), which was a fabrication. The later realisation that the WMD claims were false was sold in the press as being an 'intelligence failure' but it was not. It was not any kind of mistake. The politicians, and the heads of their intelligence services, cooked their own intelligence reports, outright lying, to say there was an imminent danger from Iraq's WMDs when there was no evidence to support this. The US October 2002 National Intelligence Estimate document, prepared before the war was launched, had concluded there was no imminent threat (see video below) but US officials altered the published conclusion and then lied in order to launch the unnecessary war.

Presently the mainstream media is still covering for these lies despite the fact we have the documents to prove it was a lie. 

Alexander also says that all recent US wars, in Libya, Syria and Ukraine, have been projects of the same neoconservatives that have hijacked US foreign policy decision making over last two (maybe three) decades.

Unfortunately no action has been taken to arrest those that cooked up these wars, the closest thing we had was the Chilot inquiry in the UK that ended up being a cover-up exercise for the former British Prime Minister and his advisors (who were allied to the US neocons) and participated in the invasion. 

If you wonder why the world is plunged into a pretty shit position, with failed financial systems, wars, draconian health mandates that are based on obvious lies, it's because none of the rot that has set in over many decades was fixed. Everything is not based on doing the right thing and following established law - it's become a largely political environment, with ass covering to protect those that are pulling the levers of power. Decisions are made and the system runs to protect the decision makers rather than audit or challenge what is happening. And when the decision makers are bribed (sometimes by their own fat salaries) or blackmailed individuals, and the regulators and media bosses are of the same ilk .. you can guess the rest.
