Ukraine may have suffered 257,000 dead in the fighting compared to about 25,000 Russians. As things stand the Russians are running an industrial war that the West cannot match. The war is strengthening their military and economy. Meanwhile Poland and perhaps Romania, with the backing of the US, may intervene in Western Ukraine. However, the Russians may be mobilising up to 1.5 million troops. With their massed artillery systems and air defense systems any intervention from Western powers would be extremely costly and likely to fail.
