NFL Lies About Pat Tillman’s Death To Promote War (Jimmy Dore)

After 9/11, football star Pat Tillman gave up his career on the gridiron to join the Marines, eventually serving in Afghanistan where he was killed under mysterious circumstances. The military covered up the fact that Tillman was gunned down by his fellow soldiers, as well as the fact that he had turned against the war. And the NFL has continued to shamelessly perpetuate the mythology around Pat Tillman, trotted out at this year’s Super Bowl.

He was killed by 'friendly fire' and this was covered up. The person who shot him stated that he had his hands up and still pulled the trigger. There are accounts that Tillman was approaching the position yelling that it was him, with his hands up. In the PR promos they imply he was killed in action, presumably by oppositions forces. The family does not want him promoted after the army lied about what happened. He was shot in the head via a three round burst.
