There's an MSM blackout on these developments. This is a US Neocon thing. Failed US programs have encouraged countries like Turkey to ditch them. However, Erdogan is corrupt, with ties to the extremists. He may yet back out of any deal. Hopefully he will see more gains here via the Russian brokered peace deal than to continue as is.
Also, it might be difficult for the Syrian Army to reoccupy areas formerly controlled by Turkey because of all the extremists. Nevertheless this is a good first step.
