Russia Mobilises, Ukraine New Kherson Offensive, Suffers Heavy Losses, Slowed by Autumn Rains (Alexander Mercouris)

Although the Russian defense lines do not seem very robust in many places each Ukrainian attack still comes at a high price and they end up over extending themselves. It's likely that each time the occupy  new areas they come under heavy artillery fire. Personnel and armoured vehicles are being chewed up in each instance. Meanwhile the Russian forces seem to be building for a winter offensive.

A key point that Alexander makes about the Ukrainian advances is that we do not see evidence of heavy Russian casualties or prisoners, or destroyed equipment. If Ukraine were really smashing Russian forces this would be obvious. What is happening are a number of tactical withdrawals that allows their artillery to do all the work.
