Taiwan Crisis Intensifies as Russia Grinds Down Ukraine Defences in Donbass (Alexander Mercouris)

A visit from Pelsoi to Taiwan should not kick off a conflict. None of those involved would stand to benefit from the action because of close economic ties. This is unlike the situation with Russia. China does not have to do anything to maintain their advantages in terms of their political and monetary influence in the region. If the US recognises the independence of Taiwan military action of some sort may occur, perhaps a blockade?
