The MSM characterisation of the conflict is a joke. They lie about pretty much all wars at present. They certainly lied about Libya and Syria and this is more of the same. In the end reality catches up to the liars and the truth is exposed. Look at how quickly things collapsed once the US left Afghanistan. You can't paper over disasters.
