The energy policies of western countries like the US and the UK are guaranteed to fail and lead to disaster.

Current high oil prices have also come from speculators in the oil market. The war in Ukraine was an excuse to jack up the prices. Oil should be around 70 dollars a barrel, not over 100 dollars per barrel. The same thing happened the last time oil was over 100 dollars. Also, in relation to Tony Heller's point, you simply can't shut down existing power systems without having a viable replacement. One could go for thorium nuclear power, once the bugs are ironed out.
