Bettina Arndt is hosting a pivotal conference this weekend, focusing on the alarming trend of false accusations and the erosion of the presumption of innocence in Australia.
The most interesting aspect to this story is that they are classifying a lot of not physical action as domestic violence? Non-physical action can certainly amount to abuse, there is no doubt, however, such non physical action by abusive men is something that many controlling women do too. The big issue here, once again, is one of double standards. It is true that physically stronger men carry with them a threat of physical violence, but it is also true that mental abuse can be devastating. How many men have killed themselves due to the actions an abusive woman? We need a bigger picture to see what is happening overall in our society.
