A Symphony of Lies

Lies and backpedaling from the White House about the Iraq war, 9/11, WMDs, and Saddam Hussein. George Bush stars, along with Dick Cheney, Donald Rumsfeld, Colin Powell, and Condoleezza Rice.



A lesson from the past to not trust people in authority.

None of their claims were backed by solid corresponding intelligence data. When Rumsfeld said they knew where the WMDs were it was an outright lie. There's an Australian doco from 2005 called Truth Lies and Intelligence that breaks down all the lies with interviews with insiders who knew they were cooking up an unnecessary war. There's a British memo, the Downing Street Memo, that says the same thing, and we have a declassified US National Intelligence Estimate from October 2002 that said Saddam was no threat - unless he was attacked. The Bush era neocons cooked that NIE report and changed the conclusion to say that Iraq was a direct threat. A straight up lie. This lie was fed to Congress that approved the illegal invasion.

Activists sent the mainstream press a lot of material on this subject, of war crimes, over the subsequent  years, and the media did nothing to change their false 'mistaken intelligence' narrative. It was a lesson to not trust the media. The media is part of the problem.

Alt media told you the truth about this stuff and yet the lesson was only partly learnt. Do not trust ANY authority, including the press, especially when there is a clamour of dissenting voices. Look into things. It may actually be a matter of life and death, if not for yourself, for others.
